Situation:

John Herring had 26+ years in experience as an auto technician, however, his shop was out of control with little direction and limited understanding of the inner workings of his business. He was operating Stamps Auto as a one man band doubtful about delegating responsibilities to others which proved to be tremendously stressful. To make matters worse, he was unable to secure working capital due to credit issues and time in business. He needed help with running his business and the capital to grow it.

Solution:

January 2011, Herring attended a weekend Management Success seminar, a California based training and consultant firm for independent auto shops, with the hope of learning how to “put his hat” on as a shop owner and acquire the management skills needed to run a profitable business. After learning valuable information at the weekend seminar, he made the decision to move forward with their 6 month training program. Unfortunately, Herring did not have the capital or credit to pay for the program. Herring has just finished expanding one of two locations, doubling the shop and adding two additional lifts. He is currently in the process of opening a third location. His sales have more than tripled from $25k-$30k a month to $75k-$80k, and his staff has increased from 2 to 7 employees.
